Brief Explanation of Character's Gimmick: An aging wrestler returning from a critical injury after a medical procedure added a few more years to her ring life. Looking for redemption and a little fun.


Ring Attire: Black leather pants, boots, studded leather belt, fingerless gloves, elbow pads, strapped crop top. Her pants say Rebel on the outer thighs and there are winged stars on her boots. Wear's a chain belt slung on her hip, chrome aviator shades, and a red leather motorcycle vest with her winged Star logo on the back

Backstage Attire: T-shirts, plaid flannel shirts, frayed and ripped blue or black jeans, Band shirts, chains, buckled ankle boots, fingerless gloves, and either her vest from her entrances or a spiked and studded motorcycle jacket.

Known Allies: Chelsea Skye, Ruthann Hunter, Alex Carbajal, and Gabriella Visconti

Known Enemies: None who are currently active.




SHORT ENTRANCE: 

"Back from the Dead" hit's the PA and out comes the Rebel in full ring gear, twirling her bright red aluminum baseball bat in hand. She points it at the ring, then heads straight for battle....

MAIN EVENT / PPV ENTRANCE: 


The lights drop to a dim blue only to brighten to a bright red as "Back from the Dead" by Halestorm plays over the P/A speakers. With a pyro explosion, the Rebel bounds from the curtains and onto that stage with a wicked grin. She sports her ring gear: a red leather vest with her winged star logo, aviator shades, and fingerless gloves. Twirling a bright red aluminum baseball bat in her hand, Mel strides down the aisle, taking her time and rocking with the fans in attendance. She's high-fiving fans, giving hugs to kids, and one lucky fan's child ends up with a parting gift, her chrome aviator shades getting placed right on the kid's face.



After making the rounds at ringside, pumping up the front row fans, Rhodes slides under the ropes, pops up and runs up to the far turnbuckle, throwing a three fingered salute while headbanging to her music. She then turns and runs to and up the opposite turnbuckle, arms out at her sides as she shouts "HEEELLLL YYYEEAAAHHH!!!" to the fans, working them up just a little bit more. She then hops down, pulls the vest off and tosses it aside, crouching low in her corner and waiting...

Fighting Style: Her style is very similar to Joshi Strong Style, but hybridized with elements from various styles due to years of experience wrestling against several different types of wrestlers. She's learned a little from every opponent she's ever faced over a 25+ year wrestling career.

Ring Strategy: Mel is a show woman at heart, but very tactical and quick paced, but can be patient when the match calls for it. Early in the match, she will do what she can to work in snug and close, showing off her reflexes by dancing around opponents attempting to grab or strike her. She studies her opponents, preparing for them as best she can because an unprepared fighter is often dead in the water in her estimation.

In-Ring Strengths:
Fiercely strong, she can bench 400 lbs and can toss men larger than herself.
High pain threshold.
Pain feeds into her adrenaline, making her even stronger and more aggressive.
Fast reflexes.
Double Jointed Shoulders: Can dislocate either shoulder at will to escape holds. Often slams whichever shoulder she dislocates back into place on a wall, post, or other hard surface. It is extremely painful for her to do.

In-Ring Flaws:
Old injuries: left Wrist, and neck, which can be exploited as weak points in submissions.
Doesn't move as fast as she used to be, resulting in the change of her style to be more strength oriented.
Is at a disadvantage when not allowed a warm up before a fight: While still formidable foe, if she doesn't prep, she's at a disadvantage. Assume she's prepped if she's looking for a fight, however.
Thin Blooded: She bleeds easy and often in volume when wounded. Even if it gives her a momentary rush when wounded, she tends to lose pints if allowed to go untreated for too long.

With a running start towards an opponent, her foe swings or kicks, Mel drops to her knees, sliding while bending backwards passed her opponent. She then hops up with a flex of her legs, ready to do damage. Often opens up for a Shot through the Heart or the Rebel Star Slayer out of nowhere.

Any variation of Diamond Cutter. Can double as a match finish as it was her original finisher for most of her career.

Mel gets in super close to an opponent and showcases her reflexes by dodging and weaving an opponent's oncoming strikes, making it look easy. This can be a setup for SttH or RSS.


6. Fireball
A classic Flash paper Fireball that Mel busts out as little magic trick that often results in her opponent's having singed eyebrows. It's not common but it's something she'll bust out for special occasions involving no rules kinds of matches.

Melinda Rhodes has returned from a long hiatus from EWC to redeem herself. A long time wrestling veteran, she has been in the business since she was 19 years old and while she's had many impressive matches in her career, she has always possessed a bit of an ego about her abilities, often overestimating herself in big game matches, thus why her accolades are few. Overtime as reality began to collide with her fantasy, she eventually found her delusion of being an elite wrestler broken when the facts outweighed the lies she told herself. Now, she is a woman filled with regrets and driven by a need to overcome the past with a rapidly diminishing future. At her age, few women are in any condition to wrestle, but she's managed to keep herself strong and fit and is perhaps in the best physical shape of her life. Knowing her time is finite and the body can only go so far, she makes her final hurrah as a competitor in professional wrestling here, in EWC.
